A clear quote before work begins. Starting prices apply to one business with current books and straightforward bookkeeping needs. We review your QuickBooks Online file before confirming a monthly fee. Your quote depends on accounts, transaction volume, record condition and complexity. QuickBooks Online subscriptions, historical cleanup, payroll, tax preparation, forecasting, bill payments and collections are separately scoped and billed. Additional work and fees require agreement before work begins.

Compare package details

Monthly Bookkeeping — from $350/month: One entity, up to 3 financial accounts requiring reconciliation and 150 monthly transactions. Monthly updates and financial statements, one 20-minute check-in, plus up to 30 minutes of email support staff time monthly. Response target: within 2 business days.

Bookkeeping + Financial Review — from $650/month: One entity, up to 6 reconciled financial accounts and 350 monthly transactions. Weekly transaction updates, monthly reconciliation and financial statements, one 45-minute review, plus up to 60 minutes of email support staff time monthly. Response target: within 1 business day.

Response targets mean acknowledgment and next steps, not guaranteed resolution. Support covers the agreed bookkeeping work. Corrections to NP’s own errors do not use your support allowance. Forecasts, budgets and detailed advisory projects are separately quoted.

What counts as an account or transaction?

Each bank, credit-card, loan or payment-clearing account requiring reconciliation counts as one account; chart-of-accounts categories do not. A transaction is one unique financial activity requiring posting or review. Matching a downloaded item to an existing entry is not counted twice; a transfer between included accounts counts once. Inventory, e-commerce settlements, multiple entities and other complex work require a tailored quote.

What if I need more than the package includes?

We recommend a tailored scope and quote. Seasonal changes and additional work are discussed before extra fees apply. Recurring volume above the agreed allowance may require a revised package; there are no automatic unapproved overage charges.

When will I receive reports, and what do I provide?

Your engagement sets document deadlines, reporting dates and who answers transaction questions. Our target is reports by the 20th of the following month when complete records and required answers arrive by the 5th. Missing records or unresolved questions can change delivery timing. Use the agreed secure channel for financial documents and provide QuickBooks Online accountant access rather than sharing passwords.

Financial Warning Signs

When bookkeeping services may be worth considering.

Bookkeeping problems often appear as business problems first. For example, an owner may think cash is disappearing when the real issue is outdated records, unreconciled accounts or receivables that are not being tracked consistently.

Behind

Months Are Missing

Transactions have not been reviewed or reconciled for an extended period.

Confusion

The Reports Look Wrong

Profit, expenses or account balances do not match what you expect.

Tax Readiness

Tax Season Becomes Cleanup Season

The business spends weeks reconstructing information before filing.

Funding

You Cannot Produce Financial Statements

A lender requests reports and the business cannot quickly provide them.

Cash Flow

You Do Not Know Who Owes You

Outstanding customer balances are unclear or not consistently tracked.

Vendors

Bills Keep Surprising You

Vendor obligations are not organized into a reliable payment process.

QuickBooks

Too Many Duplicate Accounts

The Chart of Accounts has grown without a consistent structure.

Decisions

You Are Running on Bank Balance Alone

Business decisions are being made without complete financial context.

Your Next Business Move

What are you preparing for?

Keep your financial information current so you can prepare for an opportunity, meet a deadline or make a more informed business decision.

Funding

A Loan or Grant Application

Organize financial statements and supporting records, then compare them with the lender or program requirements. Bookkeeping does not guarantee eligibility or approval.

Tax Season

A Smoother Accountant Handoff

Keep accounts reconciled and expenses categorized so your tax preparer can work from organized records. Tax return preparation is separately scoped.

Hiring & Growth

A More Informed Decision

Understand current profit, expenses and cash movement before making a new commitment. Forecasting and detailed growth planning can be quoted separately.

Everyday Operations

Clarity About Your Business

Review what the business earns, spends, owes and keeps using current financial reports.

Monthly Financial Rhythm

Monthly bookkeeping services create a repeatable financial rhythm.

Good bookkeeping is a process rather than an annual event. First, gather the activity. Next, review the categories and reconcile the accounts. Then review the reports. As a result, problems can be identified earlier instead of months later.

01

Gather the Activity

Bring bank, card and business transaction activity into the accounting system.

02

Review Categories

Confirm that income and expenses are recorded in appropriate accounts.

03

Reconcile Accounts

Compare accounting balances with bank and credit-card statements.

04

Review the Reports

Check financial statements for unusual balances, errors or trends.

05

Make the Next Decision

Use updated numbers to support business, tax and funding decisions.

Know What the Reports Mean

Bookkeeping services should produce reports you can actually use.

Financial reports tell different parts of the business story. Therefore, looking at only one report can create an incomplete picture. Review performance, financial position and cash movement together.

Which Service Fits?

Do you need bookkeeping cleanup or monthly bookkeeping services?

Cleanup repairs the past. Monthly bookkeeping helps keep the current period organized. In many cases, a business needs cleanup first and a dependable monthly process afterward.

Fix the Past

Bookkeeping Cleanup

Best when financial records have fallen behind or contain significant errors.

  • Months or years are behind
  • Accounts are not reconciled
  • Duplicate or incorrect accounts exist
  • Financial reports appear unreliable
  • Tax or funding deadlines are approaching

QuickBooks & Financial Technology

QuickBooks support should strengthen your bookkeeping process.

Software does not fix a broken process by itself. Instead, the Chart of Accounts, bank connections, transaction rules and monthly workflow need to match how the business actually operates.

Build a Cleaner Accounting Foundation

A well-organized Chart of Accounts creates the structure behind financial reporting. For example, assets, liabilities, equity, income and expenses need consistent categories so reports remain useful.

Bookkeeping Services FAQ

Common questions about bookkeeping services.

Every business is different. However, these questions can help clarify when bookkeeping support, cleanup or QuickBooks assistance may be useful.

Is the QuickBooks Online subscription included?

No. The QuickBooks Online subscription is billed separately. You own your account and provide NP with accountant access. Payroll subscriptions and other paid apps are also separate.

How is my bookkeeping quote determined?

Your proposal specifies one business entity, included accounts and transactions, update frequency, support time, meetings and report deadlines. Pricing depends on the condition and complexity of the books. We agree on additional work and fees before starting it.

Do I need to know which package to choose?

No. Tell us what needs attention and whether you have a deadline. We will discuss whether setup, cleanup, ongoing bookkeeping or a financial review is appropriate.

What is the difference between bookkeeping and accounting?

Bookkeeping focuses on recording, organizing and reconciling financial transactions. Accounting generally goes further by interpreting financial information, preparing reports and supporting analysis or decision-making.

How often should bookkeeping be updated?

The right frequency depends on the business. However, many small businesses benefit from a consistent monthly process because reconciliations and reports stay more current.

What is bookkeeping cleanup?

Cleanup is the process of reviewing and correcting historical bookkeeping so accounts, transactions and reports become more reliable. For example, cleanup may include reconciliations, corrected classifications and a review of duplicate accounts.

Can Net Profits help with QuickBooks Online?

Yes. Net Profits supports QuickBooks Online only, including setup, Chart of Accounts organization, bookkeeping workflows, cleanup and related financial systems.

Why do bank reconciliations matter?

Reconciliation compares accounting records with bank or credit-card statements. As a result, missing transactions, duplicate entries and unexplained differences can be identified more quickly.

What reports should a business owner review?

Common reports include the profit and loss statement, balance sheet and cash-flow information. In addition, accounts receivable, accounts payable and other management reports may be useful depending on the business.

Can clean bookkeeping help with business funding?

It can help with preparation. Lenders and funding programs may request financial statements and other records. Therefore, current and reliable bookkeeping can make it easier to produce the information being requested.

Keep Building

Bookkeeping services connect to the rest of the business.

Once financial records are organized, the numbers can support taxes, funding, operations and better business decisions. Therefore, bookkeeping should connect to the broader business system.
