The Verizon small business grant offers eligible business owners an opportunity to receive $10,000. Before applying, understand the requirements, decide how the funding would support your business, and prepare the information needed for your application.

Illustrative example: A small service business wants to replace aging equipment. Before applying, the owner gathers supplier estimates, identifies the work the equipment would support, and separates essential purchases from optional upgrades. As a result, “we need funding” becomes a specific business plan.

Verizon small business grant: eligibility and requirements

Verizon and LISC are awarding $10,000 grants to 10 small businesses monthly from June through December 2026. Apply once. If your application is not selected, it remains under consideration for later rounds.

  • Who: Owners aged 18 or older of for-profit businesses in the United States, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands. Nonprofits are ineligible.
  • Unlock the application: Create a Digital Ready account and complete two eligible courses or events during January 1–December 7, 2026.
  • Before applying: Review the current official instructions and submit accurate information.
  • If selected: Finalists must pass verification; finalist status does not guarantee an award.

NP’s approach: fit, purpose, preparation

Start with fit: does your business meet the published requirements? Next, define purpose: which business need would the money address? Finally, prepare: can you explain your numbers and support your statements?

Keep the grant separate from your base operating plan. Build a plan your business can follow without winning. Then identify what an award would allow you to improve or accelerate. Our business funding resources can help you explore the broader preparation process.

Grant preparation: check your fit, define the purpose, and organize your records.
NP preparation guidance: check eligibility, clarify the business purpose, and organize your supporting records. Always review the program’s official requirements.

Prepare before you open the application

The following is NP’s preparation checklist, not a list of additional Verizon requirements:

  1. Write a one-paragraph business summary. Explain what you sell, whom you serve, and the problem your business solves.
  2. Outline a realistic use of funds. List proposed purchases, estimates, and the business purpose of each. Check them against the program’s actual rules.
  3. Review your financial records. Know your revenue, expenses, and cash position. Use our financial-readiness checklist to identify gaps.
  4. Organize supporting information. Keep business details consistent and files easy to locate. Follow our business document organization guide.
  5. Review before submitting. Confirm your answers match your records. Keep a copy of what you submit and note any follow-up instructions.

For a starting point, explore the free NP business resources. If your books need attention, our QuickBooks Online bookkeeping services cover setup, cleanup, and ongoing bookkeeping. Purchasing NP services is not required to apply and does not influence grant selection.
